Bio
“Grace’s pianistic skills are founded on solid technique, meticulous preparation, and a highly developed musical sense.”
– Dr. David Ledgerwood, Maranatha Music Department Head
Grace Betry received her undergrad in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance from Maranatha Baptist University under the instruction of June Brus (’20). While at MBU, Grace was a member of the MTNA collegiate chapter and had the opportunity to teach in the Maranatha Music Prep School, where she currently still resides as their virtual teacher.
Grace discovered a love for collaborating during her undergrad studies and decided to pursue that area further. She received a master’s degree in Collaborative Piano:Instrumental under Elena Abend at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (’22). While there, she collaborated with many of the studios at the Peck School of the Arts, UWM symphony, and the Milwaukee Children’s Choir.
Her interest in collaborative projects led her to co-found Interstice which was a Milwaukee based chamber group featuring viola and piano. She is also a co-founder of a piano duo Keynamics which performs a mix of the classics and new commissions.
Throughout her career, Grace has received professional instruction through the Collaborative Piano Institute under Martin Katz, Timothy Warren, Rita Sloan, Anne Epperson, Kathleen Kelly, Johnathan Feldman, Howard Watkins, Elvia Puccinelli, Ana Maria Otamendi, Roy Imperio, Svetlana Belsky, and Stasi Varshavski.
She is currently working on her DMA in Collaborative Piano (‘25) under Anita Pontremoli at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She will join the staff of CIM as a staff pianist in 2026, and she also has joined the staff of Distinctive Music Studios as a virtual teacher. Her current project is promoting Ukrainian classical music during this invasion.
Besides her degrees in piano, she also minored in TESOL and went on to receive her CELTA certification which has opened doors for her to teach English around the United States and also in Indonesia and Ukraine.
